SUCCESSFUL "ROAD TOLL" FOR SPECIAL OLYMPIANS

(HURON COUNTY, ON) - The heaps of change have been counted, and the results are now in for the 2017 Easter Weekend "Road Toll" Special Olympics fund-raiser.

In a five-hour period, Saturday, April 15, volunteers with the Huron County Torch Run Committee collected a whopping $2,225 at the Road Toll set up at the Hansen's Independent Grocer in Exeter.

"Even though the weather conditions were rainy and chilly, the spirits of our volunteers were running high," said sergeant Russ Nesbitt, Huron County OPP Torch Run co-ordinator. "We are absolutely thrilled with the generous donations to the Ontario Special Olympics program. Thanks to my team of volunteers for their dedication to this event, the public for their generosity, the media for their assistance in publicizing the event, and Hansen's for allowing us to have the event on their property."

The Huron County Torch Run committee looks forward to the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run scheduled for Tuesday, June 13. Details will be announced in early June.
