Huron Heights Public School in Kincardine, and the Municipality of Kincardine celebrated the Longest Day of Play, Wednesday.
The school actually marked the Longest Day of "Canadian" Play, starting with hockey player Garrett McFadden and his message on mental health and McFadden's Movement. He received a donation for his foundation, from the school.
Tia Trudeau and her son, Harley, presented a piece of artwork that represents the "Seven Grandfather Teachings," in honour of Aboriginal Day.
And finally, the students gathered around a collaborative Canadian flag they created together.
Meanwhile, Wednesday evening, more than 200 children came to the Davidson Centre to enjoy activities for the Longest Day of Play.
They played games, enjoyed the slippery fun of the “slip and slide,” and took in some colouring activities. The Summer Playground Program leaders were on hand to meet any new campers.
There were barbecued hotdogs and neat prizes for all.
Appreciation to No Frills for donating the food. And to the Kincardine and District Lions Club for visiting with Larry the Lion and donating $2,000 to the summer camp inclusion program.
