September 8, 2017

MAN ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS CHARGES

(BRANT TWP, ON) - Sept. 7, at 1:13 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of Bruce County Road 4 in Brant Township.

Officers arrived to find an assault had taken place. Members of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team and OPP West Region Canine Unit assisted the South Bruce OPP in a search for the suspect who was located and arrested without incident. Investigators found he was also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.

A 24-year-old Brant Township man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, two counts of sexual assault, six counts of breaching probation, and four counts for fail to comply with recognizance. He was held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing Sept. 8.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

VEHICLE OWNERS REMINDED TO LOCK-IT OR LOSE-IT

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) - The South Bruce OPP is sending a reminder to vehicle owners to "Lock-it or Lose-it," following two more reports of vehicle entries in the detachment area.

Both entries took place during the evening of Sept 6, or early morning hours of Sept. 7:

  • Vehicle entry along Concession D in Carrick Township; owner reports money and personal documents missing
  • Vehicle entry along Deerhurst Drive in Huron Township; owner reports the loss of a Dell laptop, Fluke volt meter and Garmin Nuvi 250 GPS

The South Bruce OPP recommends that vehicle owners/operators consider the Lock-it or Lose-it theft prevention tips to help protect their property:

  • Always roll up your vehicle's windows, lock the door and pocket the key
  • If you have a garage, use it; lock the door and the vehicle
  • Always park in a well-lit area
  • Never leave valuable objects in plain view

Theft is a crime of opportunity that you can help control; Lock-it or Lose-it.

Suspicious vehicles and suspicious people should be reported to police as soon as possible so that an officer can investigate.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
