Congratulations to Jonathon and Maxine Murray on the birth of their little girl, Payton Alene, Friday of last week. Best wishes also to grandparents, Paul and Carrie Murray and Kevin and Peggy Clark, and great-grandparents, Win and Karen Allen and Joan Murray.

Congratulations to Kim Hooey and Anthony Lawlor who were married Friday evening!

Get well wishes to those in our community who are in hospital and recovering at home, from your Purple Grove pals.

Sympathy to the family of Paul MacDonald of Wellesley whose memorial service was held Saturday.

Also, sympathy is extended to the family of Eleanor Johnston of Kinloss, and to Pete and Tania Lise of Wingham on the loss of Pete’s father, Jim Lise.

It’s fair season and fun for everyone! Members of the Ripley 4-H Sheep Club attended the Owen Sound Fair Friday, Chesley and Arthur Fairs Saturday, and Paisley Fair Sunday. At the Paisley Fair, there were eight six--horse hitches and 11 four-horse hitches in the draft horse classes - pretty spectacular show!

Also, Ripley 4-H Beef Club members were busy showing their calves at the Paisley Invitational Show, getting ready for the Ripley Fair which runs Sept. 28-30. A reminder to community ladies for pies for the food booth in the arena – everyone loves pie at the fair!

Congratulations to Karen and Doug Martyn who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently!

It was fun to see George Arnold of Bobcaygeon, who was raised at Bervie, and his cousin, George Richards of New York State, who was raised at Paramount, visiting with folks over the summer.

Sandra Forester of Goderich visited with Mary Anne Kukoly, Wednesday, and also with former Southline neighbours, Viola Bridge, Mary Orr and Marj Armstrong, before attending the Women's Institute meeting, Wednesday evening. Glad to have you there, too.

Simon and Jan Logtenberg of Dungannon visited with Jim and Fran Farrell, Sunday evening.

September must be a good month for getting married as several other couples in the neighbourhood have recently celebrated their anniversaries too!
