Stolen car found in Ripley lagoon; truck stolen in Huron Township; theft in Carrick

STOLEN CAR RECOVERED IN RIPLEY LAGOON
 
(RIPLEY, ON) - Sept. 25, at 1:58 a.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Park Street in Ripley when they observed a grey Toyota Corolla drive by.
 
The car travelled east along Park Street and officers located it in a lagoon beyond the east end of Park Street. Through investigation, officers determined that the car had been reported stolen.
 
Members of the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and OPP Aviation Services assisted the South Bruce OPP with locating the driver.
 
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit divers assisted with the recovery of the car.
 
The search for the occupants of the vehicle continues.
 
Suspicious vehicles and suspicious people should be reported to police as soon as possible so that an officer can investigate.

POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN PICK-UP IN HURON TOWNSHIP
 
(HURON TWP, ON) - Sept. 25, at 6:40 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft at a residence in the 600 block of Bruce County Road 7 in Huron Township. 

A green GMC Sierra pick-up truck, with Licence No. AM22608, was taken; in fact, the owner saw the truck being driven away. The paint is peeling on the passenger side and there is a dark green tonneau cover over the bed of the truck. At the time of the theft, there were tools in the bed of the truck including: a turquoise Makita air compressor, an orange Bostitch nailer, a yellow and black Stanley nailer, and a shingle ripper. The value of the stolen truck and tools is estimated to be more than $7,200.
 
The South Bruce OPP reminds vehicle owners/operators about the Lock-it or Lose-it theft-prevention tips to help protect their property:
 
  • Always roll up your vehicle's windows, lock the door and pocket the key
  • If you have a garage, use it; lock the door and the vehicle
  • Always park in a well-lit area
  • Never leave valuable objects in plain view

POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT OF HARLEY DAVIDSON
 
(CARRICK TWP, ON) - Sept. 25, at 6:46 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft at a residence in the 400 block of Bruce County Road 3 in Carrick Township. 

Sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Sept. 22, a black Harley Davidson FLH, with Licence No. 4K6B8, was taken from a detached shed on the property. The value of the stolen motorcycle is estimated to be $12,500.
 
The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
