McConnell sisters make history at Royal Winter Fair; and recognition for other local youth

Bailey and Ashley McConnell of Armow, in the Municipality of Kincardine, made history at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto when they took the top two prizes in the 4-H Queen's Guineas steer show.
Bailey won grand champion, while Ashley won reserve grand champion. They are the daughters of Mark and Rosanne McConnell.
Also at the Royal Winter Fair, Kate Leppington of the Ripley 4-H Beef Club, won Junior Champion Showman. She is the daughter of Larry and Tanya Leppington of Ripley.
And at the Bruce County Plowmen's Association banquet, held Saturday in Tara, Noah and Curtis Lotton, sons of Murray and Sarah Lotton of Ripley, received awards for their plowing skills at the Bruce County Plowing Match, Sept. 1 near Walkerton.
Curtis won the Hardie and Arlene Young Memorial trophy for first place in Class 5 plowing, earning 128.5 points.
Noah won the Jack and Helen Cumming trophy for second place in Class 5 plowing, earning 127.5 points.
