Ripley-Huron fire chief receives exemplary service medal

Ripley-Huron fire chief Christopher Cleave (above right, with mayor Mitch Twolan) was honoured at the Huron-Kinloss committee-of-the-whole meeting last night (Nov. 6).

Twolan presented Cleave with a Governor General's Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of 20 years of loyal and exemplary service to public safety in Canada.

Cleave has been the Ripley-Huron fire chief since September, 2015. Prior to that, he served as fire chief and director of protective services for the Municipal District of Smoky River, No. 130, in Alberta.
 

He holds a law enforcement diploma, along with multiple NFPA certifications, including Fire Officer I & II, several courses through the Ontario Fire College, Volunteer Firefighter, Module A,B,D and E, and Fire Prevention Officer courses, as well as Incident Command Level 100 to 400.

Cleave took over from Doug Martyn who retired after 34 years of service.
