The Kinetic Knights robotics team is gearing up for the kick-off of this year's FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) challenge. The game will be revealed Saturday morning at the Holiday Inn, Kincardine.
The team then has six weeks to build a robot that will play the game at two district competitions, possibly advancing to Ontario and then world competition.
Meanwhile, the team hosted a successful FIRST LEGO League regional at Kincardine District Secondary School, Saturday, Nov. 24.
Six elementary school teams competed, including two from Huron Heights, Kincardine, two from Collingwood, one from Sauble, and one from Headwaters Academy near Thornbury.
Their challenge was to identify a problem for a person spending a long time in space travel, and then provide a solution to that problem. Each team produced a robot that completed several maneuvers to do with space travel, as well as a project, and discussed FLL core values pertaining to the challenge, with the judges.
