STEVE JURKIEWICZ

February 17, 2017

Steve Jurkiewicz of Kincardine died, with family by his side, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine hospital, Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at the age of 79. Born Oct. 15, 1937, in Gdynia, Poland, he rejoined his parents, Waclaw and Irene Jurkiewicz, in England after the Second World War. He completed high school in Lilford, and it was there that he met his future wife, Bozena. Steve obtained his engineering degree at London University, United Kingdom, and worked for Esso Research in Oxford. Deciding to seek his fortune, he emigrated to Canada in 1965, first living in Arvida, Quebec, and then moving to Kincardine to work at Ontario Hydro. He was a good family man and leaves behind his wife; his children, Marek and Ania (Andrew); and grandchildren, Burton and Clara. Steve cherished friendships and liked nothing better than having friends over for a meal, laughs and, of course, a rum and coke. May he rest in peace. A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 11 a.m., with Ann Maycock officiating. Final resting place Kincardine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, the Kincardine branch of the Bruce County Library, or a charity of your choice.
