CASSANDRA ANNE PORTER (nee HAHN)
December 22, 2024
Cassandra Anne Porter (nee Hahn) of Paisley died Dec. 22, 2024, at the age of 34. She fought a brave battle with cancer, and her final days were spent surrounded by many family members and friends. Survived by her devoted husband, Justin; her mother, Denise Bell; father, Robert Hahn; stepfather, David Bell; and her Nanny, Nancy Gilroy. She was loved by her in-laws, Sherri Porter and Dan Porter (Corinne), who welcomed her into the family with open arms. Profoundly missed by her siblings, Alex Hahn, Nick Hahn (Tara), Nathan Porter, Karleigh Porter, and Kerri Bell. She adored her niece, Charlea, and nephew, Charlie, and was a very proud aunt, always joining in silly games and dance parties. Predeceased by her cousin, Amy, whom she held close to her heart. Casie had many loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbours, co-workers, extended family, and honourary nieces and nephews who were so special to her. She would want us to list them all, if we could. She was so kind-hearted, always putting others first and never wanting to leave anyone out. Growing up in Chesley and Owen Sound, she later moved to London to study business at Fanshawe College. Many years ago, she started a successful career at Meridian Credit Union, Kincardine, where many co-workers became friends, and customers brought her joy every day and vice-versa. She married her best friend, Justin, June 3, 2017, and they settled down in Paisley, with their two adopted cats, Sookie and Neville. Casie was a best friend to many, always up for a road trip, a trivia night, or simply sitting on the couch and chatting. She was a talented artist who jumped from one creative hobby to another, always gifting her loved ones with homemade creations. She also had an adventurous side and could often be found kayaking down the Saugeen River with her husband and mom, hiking with friends, or paddle-boarding at the beach. An avid fan of theatre, she served on the board for the Chesley Bijou and acted in, or helped organize, many events. She also supported numerous charities throughout her life, including Sick Kids Hospital, Toys for Tots, and the Humane Society. Her warm smile and sense of humour never faded. Justin always managed to make her laugh with his goofy jokes that she loved (for some reason). She was his lobster, and their bond was unshakable — holding claws through it all. Casie would want to express her appreciation to everyone who stopped by to visit, support and care for her, as well as all the nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and medical professionals who went above and beyond in caring for her and her family. To know Casie is to love Casie. She left an impact on everyone she met, and if each of them carries forward some of the love, generosity, and warmth she shared, this world will be a better place. A celebration of Casie’s life will be held at the Walkerton District Knights of Columbus Community Hall, 1658 Highway 9, Mildmay, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. In honour of one of Casie's favourite activities, everyone is welcome to stay and join in for Drag Queen Bingo starting at 4:30 p.m. Please join us in celebrating this wonderful person and all the joy she brought to the world. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Grey Bruce Residential Hospice - Chapman House, or the Owen Sound Animal Shelter would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492; www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
