HELEN MARGARET IOLENE REMPEL (FITZGERALD)

December 15, 2024

Helen Margaret Iolene Rempel (Fitzgerald), beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma, formerly of Kincardine, died Dec. 15, 2024, in her 81st year, after a short stay at Hospice Georgian Triangle’s Campbell House. She courageously battled a recurrence of cancer, facing it with strength and grace to the end. After moving to Meaford, she met her first husband, the Robert (Bob) Hoggard (deceased), and had two children, Brian Hoggard (Steff) and Maretta Courvoisier (Ron). Helen later remarried Victor Rempel (deceased). Proud grandma of Vanita White, Bryce Hoggard, Terrell Deas, and Ashawnee Hoggard. Having four generations all under the same roof, she cherished every moment of watching her great-grandchildren, Ainslee Halley-White, Finn White and Zara Daws-Miller, grow, and being able to see them every day was a blessing. Predeceased by her parents, William and Maretta Fitzgerald; and her brother, William (Ed) Fitzgerald. Fondly remembered by her surviving brother Roy Fitzgerald, and extended family and friends. Helen loved to tell stories of when she worked in the box factory, the five-and-dime store, and the Global Mill, where she had a keen eye to easily spot a run in the fabric. She loved being part of the Rebekah Lodge where she was a member for more than 25 years, making hundreds of pies. Her true passion was always baking something in the kitchen and collecting cookbooks. She loved her afternoon TV shows, especially “Judge Judy,” “Maury” and the American news, as well as talking on the phone to family or playing with her grandkids. A graveside service will be held at Kincardine Cemetery in the spring where she will be laid to rest alongside her mom whom she greatly missed. Memorial donations to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, would be greatly appreciated. Portrait and memorial on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
