SUSAN HAMILTON
March 11, 2025
Susan Hamilton of Kincardine, beloved aunt, teacher, musician, and passionate lover of the arts, died suddenly, March 11, 2025, at the age of 68. Predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Ian Hamilton; and her siblings, Heather and Lionel (Lum). She leaves behind her nieces, Shannon Carter and family of Amherstburg, and Jane Hamilton of Campbell River, British Columbia; and nephews, John Hamilton and family of Barrie, and Ian Furlonger and family of Amherstburg; and her sister-in-law, Thelma Hamilton of Waterloo. Susan was a respected faculty member at Paisley Central Elementary School where she touched countless lives with her dedication to education, and infused her students with a love of all things musical. One of her proudest accomplishments during her teaching career was the creation of a musical performed by the students, for which she created the story, wrote the script, music and songs and directed each performance. Susan was blessed with an exquisite alto voice and had a profound love for music from classical to jazz, finding joy in singing, playing and listening to the melodies that inspired her. She founded and directed the Paisley Community Choir and was proud of her success in taking the choir to Toronto to sing our National Anthem at a Blue Jays game. Her passion for the arts extended to the world of theatre, particularly the Stratford Festival, where she found great joy in the magic of live performance. A devoted animal lover, Susan found solace and companionship in her beloved cats, who were a constant source of comfort and joy throughout her life. Susan's warmth, wisdom, and zest for life will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students and colleagues. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the memories she leaves behind. Following Susan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. The family will hold a Celebration of Life in July; location and date to be confirmed later.
