Sandra VanDonkersgoed of Lucknow died peacefully, at her home, Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Aalt VanDonkersgoed (2019). Dear mother of Debbie (Lammert) Smallenbroek, Edward (late Elke) Visser, and Greg (Judy) Visser. Cherished grandmother, "Grams," of Cassandra (Matt) Wilkins, Arian (Chenise) Smallenbroek, Steffon (Erin) Smallenbroek, Roman Visser, Andrew (Leah) Visser, Phillip (Allison) Visser, and Hannah Visser; and Great Grams of Lucas, Haley, Clayton, Sarah, Lux, Amelia, Abigail, Archer, Lillian, Jenna, Sarah, Isla, and Nora. Loved sister of the late Ellen (late Joe) Batenburg, late Lucy (late Robert) Fletcher, late Bob (late Mary) Meyer, John (Kini) Meyer, Bert (late Terry) Meyer, Margaret (late John) Moni, Ann (late John) Hamilton, late Rena (late Bill) Walton, late Lucas (Alice) Meyer, and Rudy Meyer; and will always be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Sandra was an avid quilter who loved to sew, not just quilts but outfits and pajamas for her great-grandchildren. She was also available to sit down and have a coffee with whoever stopped by, and loved to bake treats for her guests. She did a lot of canning and preserving of all kinds of fruits and vegetables from her garden. Sandra was married twice, both for 25 years, to two very loving men, Walter Visser and Aalt VanDonkersgoed. She was a nurse, ran a hotel in Florida, operated stores that she owned, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Maitland River Community Church, 414 Josephine St., Wingham, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bart Eisen officiating. A private interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Listowel. If desired, memorial contributions to the Wingham and District Hospital would be appreciated.
