ALLANA LUCILLE "LANNY" ADAMS (nee LOCKHART)
September 21, 2025
Allana Lucille “Lanny” Adams (nee Lockhart) of Kincardine, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, at home with her family by her side, at the age of 77. Lanny was married to Rick, her forever sidekick and partner in crime, for 57 years. They were absolutely devoted to each other through thick and thin. She was the proud mother of Marcia Spencer (Dalton) of Kincardine and Amy Szabo (Joe) of Ilderton. Best, silliest Grammie of Roland, Edwin, Lucy and Molly. She always got a kick out of her grand-dog, Pepper. Her favourite thing to do was spoil her grandkids with time spent together, gifts and treats.
Big sister of James Lockhart (p. 1956), Wendy Duplantis (p. 2012) (Doug), Lynn Rattray (Doug) of Kelowna, British Columbia (B.C.), Karen Horton of Kelowna, B.C., Allan Lockhart (Tracy) of Abbotsford, B.C., Kelly Lockhart, and Doug Lockhart of B.C., and step-brother, Earl Lockhart (Helen) of B.C. Lanny was born in Brampton to Lucille Lockhart (nee Waldron) of Cochran and Allan Lockhart of Bolton. She loved her in-laws dearly, Len and Eileen Adams (deceased), Derek and Yvonne Wager (deceased), and was especially close to Bob and Judy Adams of Nepean. She was known as auntie to her many nieces and nephews whom she loved to hear about and cherished her visits with them. Lanny also felt lucky to have neighbours who became family. To know Lanny is to know her exceptional baking, her ultimate hobby that benefited anyone around her. Her butter tarts, coconut tarts and shortbread cream cheese tarts were the top hits – no, wait, maybe her strawberry rhubarb pie or banana cream pie! Whatever she baked was perfection and her secret ingredient can now be revealed … it was love. Lanny spent eight years baking at Pine Valley Bakery in Norval, in the late 1970s and ‘80s. She volunteered at her kids’ school in Georgetown throughout those years too. She had a wonderful group of friends who loved dinner parties and community fun. Her family moved to Nepean in the mid-80s for her husband’s work at a family business, Town Typewriters. But Lanny didn’t let the dust settle under her. She baked at one of the first Loblaws Superstores, plus she drove a school bus and loved making treat bags for all the kids each holiday. In 1993, Lanny started a job at Bruce Power in records business services where she made great friends and loved her job. She retired in June, 2013. Throughout the years, every summer and fall, Lanny could be found beside Rick in one of their many custom hot rods, zooming down any highway throughout Canada and the United States, with friends in their hot rods, heading to weekend car shows. Many fond memories were made, and you can bet she packed the best picnics, making sure everyone got a butter tart or two. Lanny was fun, funny and sometimes, such a silly character. She could turn any conversation into a song. She liked what she liked and that’s the way it is. She was so thoughtful and loving, and will be missed forever. A celebration of Lanny’s life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, from 1-4 p.m., with light snacks and refreshments. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey or Diabetes Canada, would be appreciated.
