Paul Andrew Douglas, formerly of Kincardine, died Oct. 3, 2025, surrounded by his family, with his favourite music playing, after losing his courageous battle with a short illness. To know Paul, was to love Paul. He was passionate about life and his family and leaves behind a legacy that we can all aspire to live by. There will forever be a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew Paul, a hole that can never be filled even with all the memories that he left us with. He will be forever missed by the love of his life, his best friend, his wife of 40 years, Mary (Moore). Together they shared an epic love story, along with memories from their countless journeys and experiences together. Paul was the proud and devoted father of Angie (Scott), Jay (Julie) and Ben (Raya); fun-loving and dedicated Grampa of Sebastian (Katelyn), Nicole, Oscar, Gabriella, Isabelle, Rachel and Cory, along with Mac and Maddie. His siblings, Jackie, Judy, Roberta (John), Ruth, Johnny and David (Ruth Ann), will tell you that their brother remembered everything and they will hold those memories close. He will also be greatly missed by his sisters-in-law, Janet and Ken (Heyd) and Pat (Moore), who were more than just family but exceptional friends. A special mention to Marilyn (Simard) who holds a special place in the hearts of Paul and his family. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and students; his buddies at the senior centre, and countless friends and family members. Paul is predeceased by his grandson, Henry Oliver; his parents, Jack and Audrey Douglas; and father- and mother-in-law, Gordon and Cora Moore. From an early age, Paul discovered his love of fishing, spending time on Lake Erie and playing baseball (a love he shared with Ben and Oscar). He had an incredible talent as a stone mason and bricklayer which he later turned into a rewarding career as a teacher and inspired Sebastian to enter the trades. Countless students have been touched by Paul’s unique, yet effective, way of teaching, ensuring that his students were successful in both academics and life. His 31-year teaching career began in Moosonee where he quickly became a favourite teacher and introduced his students to many new things, such as a trip to southern Ontario to curl and see cows. He retired in Kincardine after earning a nomination from his peers for the Ontario Teacher of the Year, and created the KDSS Bervie campus designed for students who needed an alternative setting to learn and earn their high school diploma. Paul loved the arts, music, sports and food. He was a loyal fan of the London Knights, London Lightning and London Majors, and of course, the Detroit Tigers. He shared all these loves with Mary, his kids and his grandkids, along with countless friends. We will all miss his witty sense of humour (which kept us smiling until the end), his presence at sporting events (including the stats for all the teams), his great cooking, and the life advice (whether we asked for it or not) yet it almost always made sense. If you wish to honour Paul’s memory, go have dinner at your favourite local restaurant, drink the best coffee you’ve ever had, go fishing, or donate to a local charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place, and the family has asked to celebrate his life in private.
