Barbara Jo Starr (nee Solomon) of Brantford, died July 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by friends, after a short illness. She was 75. Survived by her sisters, Beverly Solomon Spence of Kincardine, and Catherine Solomon of California; as well as her sweet tea-cup dog, Molly. Predeceased by her parents, William Solomon and Joan Wright; and her brother-in-law, Brian Spence. Barbara grew up in Michigan and was a hairstylist there for many years until she retired in 2012 and moved to Canada. She cared deeply for the pups she adopted over the years and was active in Shih Tzu rescue in Southfield, Michigan, as well as in the community library in Paris, Ontario. She was passionate about her garden and cooking for friends and neighbours. Barbara often travelled back to Michigan and Kincardine, and other parts of Ontario to spend time with those she loved. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Her wishes were for no funeral, and cremation has taken place. Her final resting place will be at the Pine River Cemetery, Ripley, Ontario. Donations may be made in her memory toward the donor’s favourite pet rescue, or to the County of Brantford Public Library, Paris Branch, Ontario, Canada; arrangements entrusted to the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, Brantford.
