November 11, 2025
Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Jarchow of Kincardine, died unexpectedly Nov. 11, 2025, peacefully at her home in Kincardine, at the age of 71. She had been in declining health for the past several years, having been diagnosed with MS during the pandemic and was a recent breast cancer survivor. She faced her many health challenges with positivity and grace. Born Feb. 21, 1954, in Battle Creek, Michigan, she was the daughter of Charles and Rosemary (Keefer) Jarchow. She was a proud 1972 graduate of Pennfield High School. During her college years, she welcomed a new adventure by relocating to Canada, where she attended Carleton University in Ottawa, later finishing degree work at Western University in London. Following university, she moved to Port Elgin and Kincardine, where she resided until her death. She loved living in this beautiful resort area along the Lake Huron shoreline. She enjoyed gardening and nature, creating a lovely backyard oasis for birds and wildlife. Cindy was an animal lover and adopted many cats and dogs over the years. She dedicated much of her professional life to working at Ontario Hydro, Ontario Power Generation and Bruce Power. Her strong work ethic, professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression on her colleagues and friends throughout her career. She retired in 2011 after many years of service. Cindy is survived by her sister, Susan (Todd) Carlson of Hudsonville, Michigan; and her beloved nieces and nephew, Kirsten (Chris) Quimby of Wake Forest, North Carolina; Marissa (Patrick) Kenkel of Henderson, Nevada; and Christopher Carlson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as several beloved friends of many years, including Sharon Dorion of Southampton and Bruce Cohoon of Kincardine, Amy MacKinnon of Port Elgin and Marian Glenn of Inverhuron. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends, for those who wish to attend to share memories of Cindy, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at Bar Down, 832 Queen Street, Kincardine. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Birds Canada, MS Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society, in place of flowers, would be appreciated.
