TADEUSCZ (TED) HNATKOWSKI
February 5, 2026
Tadeuscz (Ted) Hnatkowski of Kincardine died peacefully, Feb. 5, 2026, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, in his 97th year. Loving father of Irene Harris (Neil) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Patricia Perkins of Kincardine. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Matthew Harris (Julia), Nolan Harris, Kevin Harris (Courtney), Troy Perkins and Dallas Perkins (Emily); and great-grandchildren, Jack, Benjamin, Sonny, Cameron, Liam and Alla. Fondly remembered by his sisters, Jozia Kurjanczyk, Helen Blazejak, and Jean Macdonald; and sisters-in-law, Christine Ganyu and Donna Dwyer. Predeceased by his wife, Josephine; his parents, Michel and Maria (nee Kuros) Hnatkowski; sister, Gladys Ernst; brother, Walter Hnatkowski; and brother-in-law, Zoltan Ganyu. Ted was born in Warszawka, Poland, and emigrated with his family to Canada in 1949, settling in the Province of Alberta. It was here he met the love of his life, Josephine. Circumstances separated them as Josephine’s family moved to Ontario. Ted then travelled the distance by car only to marry her in December of 1956. They remained happily married for 65 years. A proud member of the Local 527 Union for 68 years, he worked construction as a pipe-fitter and general foreman for Ontario Hydro until his retirement. He belonged to many social circles throughout his life and was founding member of the Senior Snooker Club in Kincardine. His greatest passion was golf - playing it, watching it, making clubs, reading about it. When not at home or work that is where you would find him, out on the golf course. During his time at Trillium Court Seniors' Community in Kincardine, he enjoyed the socialization and brought laughter and joy to all around him. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, and a very special thank you to the gentlemen of the Senior Snooker Club at the Davidson Centre, Kincardine, for their help and kindness in providing a quality of life and comradeship for Ted these past three years. A final heartfelt thank you to the staff at Trillium Court for their patience and care, providing an environment to make Ted feel safe and at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Kincardine, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Manninezhath presiding. Reception to follow in the church hall. Spring interment, Kincardine Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, in place of flowers, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
