Herbert Francis Wilkins of Chesley, formerly of Ashfield Township, died at Huronview Home, Clinton, Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Marie (Smyth) for 72 years. Loving father of Robert (Maureen) of Dungannon, Debbie Wilkins (Ralph McAdam) of Holmesville, James (Cindy) of Powell River, B.C., and Beverly (Robert) Morgan of Southampton. Cherished grandfather of Catherine (Kevin), Steve, Melissa (Greg), Dustin, Tanissa, and Jordan; and great-grandfather of Jonathan (Torri), Hayden, Morgan, Zoie, Harper, Sadie, and Liam. Herb will be missed by Marie’s family: late Donna (Clark) Zinn, Evelyn Howe, George (Barb) Smyth, late Kathleen (Lorne) Alton, Betty (Stan) Fenner, Sharon (John) Edward, Nancy (late George) Harris, and Gordon (Jo-anne) Smyth. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings, Jessie (Bert), Elsie (Jim), Louise (Ken), Gladys (Howard), Dorothy (Ed), Harry (Grace), and Charlie (Mayme); and his parents, Ernest and Frances (Matthews) Wilkins. Born and raised in Paisley, Herb moved with his parents and two older brothers to a farm west of Dungannon. After they married, he and Marie worked a farm in Ashfield Township before moving to their home on the 9th Concession. They were custodians at Brookside Public School for many years before retiring. They moved to Chesley Lake for a few years before settling in Chesley. Visitation will be held at the Klages Mill, Chesley, Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral beginning at 1 p.m. Spring inurnment, Dungannon Cemetery.
