DONALD (DON) EYRE
March 3, 2026
Donald (Don) Eyre of Kincardine died peacefully, March 3, 2026, in his 96th year. Loving father of Doug (Carrie) and Maureen. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth (2022); cherished youngest child, Carol (2007); infant grandson, Mark (2000); and parents, Will and Doris Eyre. Also predeceased by Ruth’s parents, Elmer and Florence Brown; and siblings and in-laws, Janet and Bob Thompson, Ken and Donna Eyre, Bob, Sandra and Kathryn Eyre; and nephew-in-law, Steve Czyzowski. Loved by his nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. Don was born in Sarnia where he started his Human Resources (HR) career with Imperial Oil in 1950, becoming a respected HR professional. His career took him across the country, working in managerial roles in Sarnia, Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto, always supported by Ruth. He opted for early retirement in 1986 at the age of 56, and his 39 years of retirement were spent in Kincardine enjoying adventures with Ruth. Music was a big part of Don’s life. Over the years, he was involved with many instrumental groups (concert bands, brass bands, dance bands) playing euphonium, tuba and string bass, as well as singing in several church choirs. He formed the Kincardine United Church Instrumental Ensemble in 1988 and conducted it until early 2020. In retirement, he enjoyed travelling with Ruth, arranging music on the computer, and spending time with family and friends. He was an active and long-time member of Kincardine United Church and the Kincardine PROBUS Club. Over his 95 years, Don touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2-4 p.m., at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, and Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m., at Kincardine United Church.
