JOHN ALEXANDER ADAMS
March 4, 2026
John Alexander Adams of Kincardine died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Southbridge Long-Term Care, Goderich, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Maureen, and father of Carolyn (Dan) Norman, Janet (Brian Stoliker), all of Kincardine, and Sharon (Micheal) Shaudenecker of Goderich. John will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Kerri (Samuel), Bryce (Rachael), and Spencer. Remembered by his sister-in-law, Jean Adams of South Wales, United Kingdom; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his grandson, Marcus Adams; siblings William (May) Adams, Beryl (Cyril) Kidder, Bernard (Kathleen) Adams, Irene (Neville) Birdsall, Frank (Mona) Adams, and Gilbert (Jean) Adams; and his parents, William and Gladwyn (nee Barker) Adams. Born in South Wales, John lost his father when he was young, and left school early to work in the coal mines, later taking on various jobs until meeting his future wife, Maureen. Even a serious motorcycle accident while planning their wedding, couldn’t dampen his life-long love of motorcycles, and the newlyweds spent their honeymoon at the Isle of Mann for the TT races. John and Maureen welcomed daughters, Carolyn and Janet, then immigrated to Canada, settling in Grimsby, where their third daughter, Sharon, was born. In 1975, John accepted a position with the Kincardine Public Utilities Commission, and the family moved to the community that would become his true home. He served as a volunteer firefighter, was active in the Kincardine Theatre Guild, and travelled widely. His greatest joys, in later years, was being “Bumpy” to his three grandchildren, and tinkering in his garage. John and Maureen shared nearly 68 years together, with his final year spent in Goderich. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff members at Southbridge, Goderich, for their compassionate care, and to Dr. Spacek for his support and guidance. The funeral will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Anglican Church of the Messiah, Kincardine, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Private family interment, Kincardine Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Diabetes Society, the Arthritis Society, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
