Obituary

AMY-LYNN YVONNE BOUDRIAS

August 10, 2018

Amy-Lynn Yvonne Boudrias, founder of the Kincardine Lots of Socks campaign, died Aug. 10, 2018, at her home. She was 40. Dearly beloved daughter of Debbie Boudrias and Gene Fertile. Loving sister of Gary Fertile. Amy will be sadly missed by the Fertile, Longtin, Coles, Westover and Ribey families. Special thank you to Les and Janet Ribey for their dedication to Amy. Friends and family are encouraged to wear pink in memory of Amy’s favourite colour and to write an acknowledgement tribute to be placed with Amy. An artist and warm, friendly addition to Community Living of Kincardine and District, Amy founded the Lots of Socks movement in 2016, as a way to mark March 21 as World Down Syndrome Day and to promote inclusion. She urged everyone to wear striped, polka-dot, neon, tall, ruffled and mismatched socks on that day, and the response was overwhelming, with people taking “sock selfies” and celebrating the abilities and strengths of all members of the community. Amy also encouraged downtown businesses to decorate their storefronts and the best display would win the coveted Golden Sock award. Kincardine Dentistry won in 2016, Jerome Flowers won in 2017, and Miller Insurance won this year. Visitation will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice (905-432-8484), Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life in the chapel at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. On-line condolences may be made at courticefuneralchapel.com. Meanwhile, in Kincardine, a Celebration of Amy's Life will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, from 1-4 p.m., at the Kincardine Legion. It will be an opportunity to spend time sharing stories and memories about Amy. She will be greatly missed by her friends, the Kincardine community, and the staff at Community Living of Kincardine and District.
