Oakville woman wins the 2015 Kincardine Women's Triathlon
Katie Peach was second out of the water, first back from the bike ride, and first across the finish line to take the 2015 Kincardine Women's Triathlon, held Saturday morning at Station Beach, Kincardine.

Lisa Wardell of Chatsworth won the duathlon, followed by Jessica Doerr of Kincardine and Kim Taylor of Walkerton. The remaining top 10 included Jennifer Roy of Waterloo, Kim Westbrook of Kincardine, Kim Hagle of Goderich, Danielle Lacroix of Kincardine, Sarah Saunders of Mount Forest, Holly Christopher of West Bloomfield and Lesley Anderson of Walkerton.

The Lake Huron water registered 15 degrees Celsius, Saturday morning, which meant the triathlon was a go for those planning to do the 350-metre swim, 12-kilometre bike ride, and three-kilometre run.

More than 460 athletes had registered for the event and were greeted by beautiful sunny, warm weather and a perfect course.

Of special note, there were two relay duathlon teams from Community Living of Kincardine and District (the charity receiving the proceeds from the triathlon) consisting of three staff and three supported individuals. Cathy Pennington and Amy Robinson ran the first leg of the duathlon, with Beth French and Kathy Soloduka doing the bike ride, and Bethany Collins and Louise Bursey finishing the run.

Another special mention goes to Alie Lalibertini of Kitchener and her mother, Ellen. Twenty-year-old Alie is developmentally-handicapped and, with her mother running by her side, completed the duathlon. They trained all year for the event, and the crowd cheered them on as they crossed the finish line.

For the second year, the triathlon hosted a Healthy Lifestyle and Fitness Expo, featuring Cyclechic, Essential Oils, Sweet Legs, Martin's Cycle Shop, Penetangear, yoga, and much more, including pre-registration and race kits for those taking part in the triathlon the next day.
