Bulldogs' Mike Smailes is Western Junior "C" Player of the Month for December

The Western Junior “C” Player of the Month for December is Mike Smailes of the Kincardine Bulldogs.

According to the league’s press release, “Mike has been a hard-working defenceman in our league for the past five years. His defensive play has improved every year, and his dedication and hard work has him captain of the Bulldogs this season. He has played in more than 170 games as a Bulldog. Congratulations, Mike, on a great Junior "C" career."

“It's nice to see Mike get recognized for all of his hard work this season," said Bulldogs coach Steve Stepaniak. "Mike isn't the flashiest player in the league but he plays as many minutes as anyone and no one blocks more shots."

The Bulldogs currently sit in third place in the Western Junior “C” league.
