Congratulations to HuronTel on receiving the Smart Rural Community Showcase Award.

Hope folks are able to plan ahead for the Alzheimer Coffee Break at RVilla  on Jan. 21.

The Purple Grove annual pot luck and concert to celebrate Christmas was held Dec. 19 at the community centre. Friends came from near and far for the food, fun and fellowship, and to hear the youngsters perform. We were pleased to have June and Earl Elliott attend (they are a young 91); and three sets of twins to keep Santa's memory working well. Santa even gave one fellow a lump of coal (don't know why, we thought he was a pretty fine fellow).
Our usual MC,  Heather Finnie, kept the concert running smoothly. Members of the Greenwood and Gill families provided musical numbers. Marilyn Reid had a humorous reading. Fran Farrell had great audience participation with her 12 days of a Canuck Christmas song. She also provided the commentary for a Christmas gift performance. Thanks to all who were good sports in participating for Fran. We sang our standard song of "Here Comes Santa's Cows" and Santa Claus (who had arrived all the way from Goderich) had a great time handing out gifts to all the children present.
A huge thank you to Joyce Farrell and Janet Rhody and all their families who helped with the set-up and clean-up for the evening. Thanks, also, to Doug MacDonald for providing a great tree.
