​OFSAA girls “A” basketball championships being played in Kincardine, Walkerton

Walkerton District Community School is hosting the OFSAA girls “A’ basketball championships this week at the school in Walkerton and at Kincardine District Senior School.

The event runs Nov. 24-26 and is one of Ontario’s most prestigious basketball competitions, bringing together hundreds of players and coaches from across the province and drawing the attention of thousands of spectators and on-line broadcast viewers from all corners of the province. 

Games played on the final day of the championship will also be broadcast on Wightman Community TV. The tournament is a stepping-stone for many athletes who hope to play at the college or university level.

The seeding and schedule have been approved by OFSAA this morning. Seeding is as follows:

1. Hamilton Christian District High School (Ancaster)
2. Nicholson Catholic College (Belleville)
3. Woodland Christian High School (Breslau)
4. St. Mary Catholic High School (Brockville)
5. Roland Michner Secondary School (South Porcupine)
6. Smithville Christian High School (Smithville)
7. Osgood Township High School (Ottawa)
8. F.E. Madill Secondary School (Wingham)
9. Oakwood Collegiate Institute (Toronto)
10. Walkerton District Community School (Walkerton)
11. E.S.C. Ste-Trinite (Oakville) 
12. E.S.C. Lageunese (Windsor)
13. E.S.C. Horizon (Sudbury)
14. University of Toronto Schools (Toronto) 
15. St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Kenora)
16. E.S.C. Nouvelle Alliance (Barrie)
