Kincardine U13 "B" team advances to International Silver Stick
The Kincardine Under-13 (U13) "B" Kinucks advanced to the International Silver Stick, after winning the local regional tournament, held this past week at arenas in Kincardine, Tiverton and Ripley.
Forty teams participated in the event which welcomed U13 and U15 teams in both “B” and “C” divisions.
The Kincardine U13 Kinucks faced off against four other teams in the “B” division. They went undefeated in round-robin play, downing Listowel, 6-2; Mitchell, 2-1; Tillsonburg, 6-1; and Mid Huron, 10-0.
Friday afternoon, in the championship game, the Kinucks soundly defeated Mitchell, 7-1, to take the banner, and advance to the International Silver Stick, slated for Jan. 20-22 in Forest, Ontario.
Meanwhile, the U13 “C” Kincardine Kinucks posted one win and two losses.
The U13 “C” Huron-Bruce Blizzard (Ripley and Lucknow players) had zero wins and three losses.
The U15 “B” Kinucks posted two wins and one loss, and made it to the finals, but lost, 2-0, to St. Marys.
The U15 “C” Huron-Bruce Blizzard notched two wins and one loss, and made it to the semi-finals, but lost, 1-0, to Shallow Lake.
