OPG donates to tree-planting efforts in Kincardine
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) was on hand, Saturday morning, April 29, to assist with tree-planting efforts at Savage Park, located at the end of Princes Street South, Kincardine.
Not only did OPG provide a financial donation of $10,000, several representatives helped plant trees in the park, along with a number of volunteers, who all braved the cold, rainy weather to do the work.
Doug McCallum of Kincardine Naturalization Projects said the group was planting 55 saplings (about six to eight feet in height), as well as 30 seedlings, throughout the park.
This Saturday, May 6, the group will be planting another 65 saplings at Savage Park, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Besides OPG, sponsors of the project include Savage Bros. Tree Service, Bruce Power, Armow Wind, the Municipality of Kincardine and Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. Appreciation also to Sobeys Kincardine for providing lunch, and to the local businesses that contributed to the raffle.
