The Blizzard of 2015 continued in the Kincardine area Friday, as roads were closed, and school buses were cancelled, as were activities and events.
For the third day in a row, blowing and drifting snow caused problems for motorists, schools, businesses, and event organizers.
The storm initially hit Monday, let up Tuesday, but then blew back in for the rest of the week.
Last night, Highway 21 from Goderich to Southampton was closed, along with Highway 9 from Kincardine to Walkerton, Bruce County Road 23 (B-line) from Lorne Beach to Bruce County Road 15, and Bruce County Road 86 from Amberley to Lucknow.
This morning, some of those roads were opened. As of this afternoon, Highway 21 remains closed from Bayfield to Southampton and Highway 9 is closed from Kincardine to Mildmay.
For those who decide to travel, keep your headlights and tail-lights on and clear of snow. Remember to keep your speed down - “If you see snow, go slow.”
For up-to-date road/weather information, go on-line to: http://www.brucecounty.on.ca/road-conditions.php or call Bruce County Roads at 1-866–266-7569, option “2”.
The blowing and drifting snow is expected to continue tonight and tomorrow, with no reprieve in sight until Sunday.
