Alcombrack returns as head coach of Kincardine Bulldogs

May 16, 2023

The Kincardine Bulldogs have made a change behind the bench for the 2023-24 season.

“First and foremost, the executive and team thank Todd Norman and Russell Sutton for their commitment to the team and organization the past three-plus seasons,” said general manager Warren Beisel.

Jeff Alcombrack (above) is returning to the organization as the new head coach. Alcombrack played his minor hockey in Kincardine, and was a Bulldog player at the age of 15. He was drafted by the Sarnia Sting, and played Junior B for the Owen Sound Greys. He played nine years professionally - one year in Sweden, and eight years in the United States.

Most recently, he coached the Ripley Wolves in 2022-23. He also coached the KDSS Knights high school team, and the Bulldogs for five seasons approximately 10 years ago.

Alcombrack has operated an on-ice/off-ice training program for the past 15 years for local athletes.

“We welcome back, Jeff Alcombrack,” said Beisel, “and we are excited to have as our head coach moving forward.”

Alcombrack has selected his assistant coaches who will help him behind the bench.

Shawn Krueger of Owen Sound has made the commitment to Alcombrack and the Bulldogs. He played his minor hockey in Owen Sound. Following minor hockey, he spent two seasons with the Owen Sound Greys, and three seasons with the Owen Sound Platers (now known as the Owen Sound Attack). He attended the inaugural Florida Panthers NHL training camp, with a stint in the IHL Cincinnati Cyclones.

He has 25 years of coaching experience, most recently with the Grey Bruce Highlanders AAA program, and continues to work with the organization as a skills program specialist. He was an assistant coach with the Owen Sound Greys for five seasons.

“The Bulldogs executive is excited to have Shawn Krueger join the program,” said Beisel.

Blair Pollock will remain behind the bench as assistant coach. He played his minor hockey in Ripley, and then graduated to the Ripley Wolves for the next 10 seasons. He has coached minor hockey locally from 2009-19 (Ripley and Kincardine). He was a part of the Sacred Heart High School coaching staff that won OFSAA in Kincardine. He has been an assistant coach with the Bulldogs since 2019.

“We welcome these three coaches to the Bulldogs,” said Beisel, “and we are excited to see them and the team in 2023-24.”
