Kincardine raises Pride flag in support of June as Pride month
The Municipality of Kincardine has raised the Pride flag at three locations – the Kincardine Library, Davidson Centre track and Tiverton fire hall - to show support for the LGBTQ2s-plus community.
At the Kincardine council meeting last Monday (June 5), Kincardine Pride president Fort Papalia said the Pride flag “is like a lighthouse beacon, and signifies that this community is a safe harbour, a welcome shelter to people who are often on guard for their safety, unsure as to how they will be received, wondering if they will be judged, harassed, bullied, or rejected.”
June 14, the municipality is hosting an on-line workshop facilitated by
SPECTRUM. Rainbow Diversity Training aims to help people become more open and welcoming, as well as equitable and accessible, to people of all sexual and gender diversities. To register, visit:

The board of Kincardine Pride is hosting the fifth Kincardine Pride Parade and Celebration, June 24. The event is an open invitation, welcoming all rainbow family supporters, friends and allies to join in. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and runs from the No Frills parking lot to Ecole Kincardine District Senior School.

Mayor Kenneth Craig said his hope for the future is to fully, and without prejudice, enjoy the character and personality of every person, creating a stronger, safer, and more welcoming community.
“On behalf of the council and staff of the Municipality of Kincardine, I wish everyone a season of being proud of who you are.”
