Victoria Park, Kincardine, was jam-packed Saturday night as a mammoth crowd turned out for the “Glass Tiger” concert, part of the Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games.
Lead singer Alan Frew and his band proved why they are a favourite with young and old, alike, singing hit after hit throughout the set.
The crowd wasn’t even bothered by the brief shower that hit shortly after “Glass Tiger” took to the stage. People just cheered louder, right to the final, and most well-known song by this band, “Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone.”

It was a quieter Saturday morning than normal, without the solo piping and drumming, and the pipe band competition. However, the Highland dancers competed, and the Highland Games were conducted at Robinson Park, just off Russell Street, east of Victoria Park.
Clan Avenue welcomed people to check out their ancestry, while the vendors market offered everything from kilts to jewellery, and there were food vendors offering some tasty delights.
The afternoon concert was a soggy affair as, for the first time in its history, rain fell on the Saturday of the Kincardine Scottish Festival.
The crowd braved the elements, cracking open umbrellas and enjoying the music of Madison Violet; the Grades 3 and 4 Guelph Pipe Bands which are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year; Mika McCairley and Alanna Jenish of the Guelph Pipe Band, on stage with keyboard and guitar and later, joined by the pipe band; and the Massed Band of the Guelph Pipe Bands and the Teeswater Highlanders Pipe Band.

The rain ended before the start of the evening concert which featured "The Screaming Orphans," Kincardine band “21 and 9,” “Glass Tiger,” and the infamous “Mudmen.”
