TWO DRIVERS CHARGED AT FOUR-VEHICLE CRASH
(WALKERTON, ON) – Oct. 24, at 4:16 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a crash at the intersection of Durham Street East and George Street in Walkerton.
Officers arrived to find that four vehicles were involved. All four were westbound on Durham Street East when a silver Chevrolet Cruze stopped to turn. Two of the involved drivers, a 65-year-old Brockton resident and a 31-year-old South Bruce resident, were charged with follow too closely. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING COURT DATE
(KINCARDINE, ON) – Oct. 24, at 2:53 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Queen Street in Kincardine, stopped a red Toyota Tundra pick-up truck.
The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Thirty-three-year-old Mitchell MILLAR of Brampton has been charged with impaired driving, refuse breath sample, fail to surrender vehicle permit and fail to surrender insurance. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Oct. 24.
CRIME PREVENTION - A SHARED COMMITMENT IN ONTARIO
Crime Prevention Week is Nov. 1-7
(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) –The week of Nov. 1-7 is Crime Prevention Week in Ontario. This year, the OPP will share information and tips on crime prevention and community safety.
This year’s theme for Crime Prevention Week is: “Working Together to Improve Community Safety and Well-Being – A Shared Commitment in Ontario.” The theme encourages combined efforts of police, government and communities to work together to address concerns, create strategies and decrease crime in Ontario.
The OPP identifies the importance of strong community partnerships and how they are essential in creating effective crime prevention reduction strategies.
Police remind the public of the highly-effective community safety programs that help keep families in Ontario communities safe including: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, SafeGuard Ontario, the OPP KIDS Program, and Lock-It or Lose-It.
The OPP will be encouraging crime prevention strategies using social media. Information, facts and tips will be posted on both the OPP Twitter and OPP Facebook pages.
“Crime Prevention Week is about working together to improve community safety and well-being," says OPP commissioner Vince Hawkes. "It is that joint sense of ownership and collaboration that will make our homes, neighbourhoods, and workplaces healthy and safe.”
