Huron County OPP report impaired drivers nabbed
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES
(HURON EAST, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with several criminal offences, following a traffic complaint received by police from the public, last month.
Sept. 29, at 8:45 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious person walking on Kinburn Line near Huron Road in the Municipality of Huron East. Police arrived on scene minutes later and located the individual matching the complainant's description.
Police spoke to the individual and determined that the individual had been consuming alcohol and had been driving a motor vehicle prior to police arrival. The individual was subsequently placed under arrest, taken into custody, and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician.
Further investigation revealed information that the accused had committed an assault and mischief to property.
Ashton CLEMENTS, 24, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while Impaired - Over 80
- Assault
- Mischief Under $5,000
The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Nov. 6, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
CONCERNED CITIZENS HELP NAB IMPAIRED DRIVER
(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired driving offences, following a complaint in Goderich, last month.
Just after 2 a.m., Sept. 30, officers responded to an incident on Courthouse Square in the Town of Goderich. Police spoke to witnesses who advised police that an individual had been driving after drinking alcohol. The investigating officers located, and subsequently arrested the suspected driver for Impaired Operation.
The accused then provided further breath samples before a qualified Intoxilizer Breath Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Claudia NOWOLECKA, 23, of the Municipality of Bluewater has been charged with:
- Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while Impaired – Over-80
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Nov. 6, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
