Kincardine Community Hamper program under way

Kincardine Community Hamper program under way
Kincardine Community Services is busy preparing for the 2023 Christmas Hamper program, designed to help individuals and families who may need a helping hand at Christmastime to make their holiday a little bit merrier.

“We have made the transition away from a physical ‘hamper’ of food and toys, to a gift-card model,” says chairperson Heather Finnie. “Recipients will receive gift card envelopes, Dec. 8, by appointment. This allows sufficient time for each of them to purchase gifts and food well before Christmas.”

In order to receive a “gift-card hamper,” an individual or family must be referred to the program through a helping agency (food bank, social services, school, church, etc.).

The Tiverton Lions Club and Ripley Lions Club have programs that cover their areas. If you aren’t sure which area you live in, call the Kincardine program at 519-396-2001.

“We hope to have all of the referrals in hand by Nov. 22,” says Finnie, “to give us time to put the gift-card hampers together.”
To make this possible, there are three options for the collection of donations (the hamper volunteers will be purchasing gift cards with all of the financial donations):

  1. Monetary donations, or gift cards to local business can be sent to treasurer Rhodora Doughty, Box 527, Kincardine, Ontario, N2Z 2Y1. Cheques to be made payable to Kincardine Community Services Association. Receipts will be issued for any amount over $20.
  2. Cash, cheques or gift cards/vouchers to local stores, can be delivered to Century 21 In-Studio Realty Inc. office, 330 Durham Market Square South, Kincardine (Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) between Monday, Nov. 13, and Wednesday, Nov. 29.
  3. E-transfers can be sent to Kincardinehampers@gmail.com. Please ensure your name and full mailing address are in the “message” section if you would like an income tax receipt.

If you have any questions, contact Finnie at 519-396-2001. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
