Purple Grove news
Lots of people from our area were down to the Royal Winter Fair last week, including the Grades 7 and 8 classes from Ripley-Huron Community School. Ripley-Huron Fall Fair ambassador Hannah MacDonald went with them and introduced them to all the sights and shows at the Royal! MacDonald and Ripley-Huron Fall Fair junior ambassador Jaclyn Newman also attended the District 10 meeting in Feversham, Oct. 28, and enjoyed the meeting, getting to know other ambassadors and touring the Ice River Springs Plant.

Congratulations to all the exhibitors from our area attending and getting to the Royal Winter Fair! We sure appreciate the work and commitment of these folks bringing the "best of the Bruce" down to
showcase our area!

Local Legion and Remembrance Day Services were well-attended in the area, Saturday, and the Ringing of the Peace Bell service at Knox Presbyterian Church in Kincardine was an exceptional service to honour our military service men and women. Thank you for hosting these special services.

The sympathy of the community is extended to the families of Steve MacNay and Wayne Neitzel of Kincardine. We extend our thoughts and prayers, during these difficult times, to these families and to others who are grieving in our communities.

Happy Belated Birthday greeting to Linda Campbell who celebrated her 80th birthday with friends and family recently, and to Marie Colling, Wray Thompson and Deanna Scott. Teresa and David Becker hosted a birthday gathering for Emma Nahwegbow, Micah Droppert and Mary Anne Kukoly on the weekend.

Looking forward to the St. Andrew's Sisters and Friends Concert, Nov. 19, from 2-3:15 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church in Ripley! This is a fund-raiser for the Kincardine Food Bank. Come for a fun afternoon of sing-a-longs and favourite music, and join us afterwards for treats and coffee!

Monday (Nov. 13) is World Kindness Day! This day is celebrated in many countries around the world, including Australia, Canada, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore. It was started to recognize courteous and considerate students, and encourages people to practise courtesy, kindness and consideration of others every day and everywhere. This is just a reminder from our Women's Institute Mary Stewart Collect - the last line states, “and let us not forget to be kind!”
