Purple Grove news
A nice, light dusting of snow for Sunday evening just brightened up those lights that are shining in the neighbourhoods; Christmas is coming!

Congratulations to the organizers, and those who participated in, the Lucknow Santa Claus Parade, Friday evening. They had a great turn-out and it looks as if everyone had a good time!

The Kingsbridge Community Centre hosted the Teed family for a Christmas in the Country sing-a-long and concert, Saturday evening, with a really good crowd to support the Huron Hospice. It’s nice to be out and seeing those shows again.

The St. Andrew's Sisters enjoyed presenting their concert to the residents of Rosewood RVilla in Ripley, Sunday afternoon. Nothing like music to bring joy to everyone's heart!

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Eueen Emmerton, formerly of the area. Eueen often joined our Women's Institute’s summer excursions when she could and was a friend to many of us. Sympathy, also, to the family of Cyril Lawton who passed away Nov. 1 in Wingham. Our thoughts and prayers are with these families and others in the community who are grieving at this time.

Lane Farrell of Holstein spent a couple of days with his grandparents, Jim and Fran Farrell, and helping out on the farm. Of course, making Cowboy Cookies and Apple Pie Muffins are on the "to-do" list too!

The Doug MacDonald family gathered over the American Thanksgiving weekend. Stefani Simpson and Bob and Sheena Houghton and family were home and with the Labattes, MacDonalds, and some family friends, enjoyed good food, visiting, and a rousing game of Trivia to test everyone's memory!

A couple of meetings are coming up:

  • The Purple Grove Community Centre Annual General Meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Grove.
  • The Purple Grove Women’s Institute meeting, Monday, Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m., at the home of Fran Farrell. We'll be doing some painting, and the Roll Call is “What craft would you like to learn?”

A Life Lesson: You can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you better know something!
