South Bruce OPP report impaired drivers; warn range suspensions; domestic abuse charges
POLICE ARREST IMPAIRED DRIVER AT RIDE CHECKPOINT
(WALKERTON, ON) - Dec. 7, at 11:22 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE check along Yonge Street North in Walkerton when a vehicle was stopped. Officers determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.
The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.
Richard BERBERICH, 30, of Brockton was charged with Operate over-80 milligrams.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton, Jan. 17, 2024, to answer to the charges.
An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver's licence suspension and an immediate seven-day vehicle impoundment.
OFFICERS RESPOND TO COLLISION AND ARREST IMPAIRED DRIVER
(BRANT TWP, ON) - Nov. 24, at 4:14 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a two-vehicle collision along Bruce County Road 19 in Brant Township.
Officers responded to find that one of the involved drivers had been drinking alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.
Craig BROSS, 44, of Carrick Township was charged with:
- Operate over-80 milligrams
- Careless Driving
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton, Jan. 24, 2024, to answer to the charges.
There were minor injuries reported at the scene. Both drivers received treatment at local hospitals.

POLICE SERVE WARN RANGE SUSPENSIONS AT RIDE
(BROCKTON, ON) - Dec. 5, at 9:20 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP set up a RIDE checkpoint along Old Durham Road in the Town of Walkerton. Officers encountered two motorists who had been drinking alcohol.
- A 58-year-old resident of Brockton was served a three-day suspension following a warn range result at the roadside
- A 42-year-old resident of Brockton was served a three-day suspension following a warn range result at the roadside
Members of the South Bruce OPP will be conducting RIDE checkpoints frequently in an effort to deter impaired driving.
INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES
(KINCARDINE, ON) - Nov. 1, the South Bruce OPP responded to an address in the Municipality of Kincardine and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old resident of Grey County has been charged with the following Criminal Code offence: Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.
