Thank you from the Christmas Hamper Program committee 2023
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Kincardine Community Services Christmas Hamper Program committee, I extend a huge thank you to all of the people, organizations and businesses that donated generously so that we could provide ‘gift card hampers’ to individuals and families again this Christmas.
We were especially honoured to be the recipients of the October donation from the 100 People Who Share Bruce County.
This year, we assembled 255 gift card hampers. These were provided to 110 families, 30 couples and 115 individuals, representing a total of 606 people. As a point of reference, last year, we distributed 235 gift card hampers, serving 559 people. As is obvious, by the rising number of food bank users in Kincardine, there are a lot of people struggling to make ends meet.
I thank my committee and the volunteers who ‘manned’ the donation desk here at our Century 21 office over the course of 15 days. I also thank the mathematicians who took the money and gift cards that were donated and divided them all equally so that we could distribute them fairly.
I am also happy to announce that next year I will be co-chairing the hamper committee with my colleague, Linda Bowers, who has agreed to take on the chairmanship in 2025.
You can be assured that the community’s generous spirit made Christmas a little merrier for many folks in Kincardine.
Until next year,
Heather Finnie
