Health and exercise are theme of Bervie W.I. meeting

"Health and exercise" were the theme when the Bervie Women's Institute met at the hall, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m.

President Islay Eby opened by reading “In Flanders Fields.”  The roll call, “What I do to exercise,” was answered by 10 members and three guests. Happy Birthday wishes went out to our eldest member, Mildred Griffith, who recently had her 89th birthday – Mildred is still very active with our group.

A donation for a brick will be made to the Saugeen Valley Children’s Safety Village near Hanover. The notation on the brick to read “Play Safe Farm Safe.” A collection was done for the Alzheimer Society. Dianne Wilson gave a report on the upcoming ROSE Program, “Eggsellant Offerings,” which will be held Monday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Bervie United Church. Betty Anne Thompson reported on the recent W.I. Rally held in Elmwood. Mildred Griffith gave the sunshine report.

Janice Hewitt introduced our guests, Millie Zarubick and Gail, of the SMART Exercise class in Kincardine. Millie explained the importance and benefits of cardio and physical activity, and then led us in a few exercises which got our heart beat up a bit.

Our next meeting will be Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Bervie United Church with our Christmas Potluck lunch to follow.
