Huron County OPP urge drivers to be prepared for wintry weather this weekend

(HURON COUNTY, ON) - The Huron County OPP detachment area is expecting some less-than-favourable weather arriving Friday and continuing through Sunday.

Huron County is expected to receive a significant amount of snowfall, high winds, and varying temperatures which may cause dangerous driving conditions for motorists on county roadways.

The Huron OPP is advising motorists to be prepared if they must travel and ensure they have adequate fuel, blankets, cell phone chargers and other safety supplies onboard.

This is a good time to check your home heating fuel, flashlight batteries, test your back-up generators and stock up on supplies to save any further trips if a storm prevents you from doing so safely.

"The Huron OPP is preparing for increased calls for service during this weather event and is working with our community partners to ensure they are prepared,” says constable Craig Soldan, community safety officer for the Huron OPP detachment. “Please avoid any unnecessary travel and if you must venture out on the roadways, please be prepared, have a plan, and communicate with your loved ones when you've reached your destination.”

Any road closures will be communicated to the public via the West Region OPP "X" social media account found @OPP_WR.
