Sunny, chilly Sunday afternoon for Legion Remembrance Day service in Tiverton
About 100 people gathered at Lions Memorial Park, Tiverton, for the annual Kincardine Legion Remembrance Day service, Sunday afternoon.

The sun was shining, but there was a chill in the air, as the Legion Colour Party marched in to begin the service at the Cenotaph.

Following the singing of "O Canada," bugler Ray Kester played "Last Post," there were two minutes of silence, "The Lament" played by piper Jennifer Farrell, and then "Reveille."

Wreaths were placed by various groups, individuals and organizations, as well as several commercial and industrial corporations. The Kincardine Air Cadets assisted with the placing of wreaths.

Legion padre Rev. Jim Weir offered the benediction, praying for all who work so hard for peace.

The service ended with the singing of "God Save the Queen."

The Legion is holding its Remembrance Day service in Kincardine Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Legion Hall, and continuing with the placing of wreaths and the 11 a.m. observances outside at the Cenotaph.

A service is also being held on Remembrance Day in Tiverton, sponsored by Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, the Tiverton Baptist Church, and the Tiverton and District Ratepayers' Association. It begins at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, with a light lunch afterwards at the Presbyterian Church.
