​Councillors should pay facilitator for doing their job, says reader

To the Editor:

In reading about the Municipality of Kincardine’s 2024 budget, I understood that all of the "fat" had been cut, as well as a number of "we-wish-we-coulds."

So where is the $15,000 coming from for a facilitator regarding the Secord Monument?

Our municipal leaders are elected and paid to make decisions about the municipality. However, in the matter of replacing the Secord Monument, it seems to me they have decided to pay a consultant to do their job. Perhaps the $15,000 could be deducted from their pay.

I would add that if the Secord Monument is removed, then all of the other memorials throughout the municipality should be removed or renamed as well.
