​Tiverton Winterfest set for this weekend, Feb. 16-18

The annual Tiverton Winterfest celebration runs this weekend, from Feb. 16-18.

Sponsored by the Tiverton Lions Club and the Tiverton Agricultural Society, the event features numerous activities throughout the village.

Friday night, is the Pre-Teen Dance, from 7-9 p.m., at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. Cost is $5 each.

Saturday morning, from 7-11 a.m., the Tiverton Goodtimers hockey team will be serving a Pancake Breakfast at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. Cost is $10 each for adults, $5 each for children (age 12 and under), and $25 each for families.

A progressive euchre tournament will be held Saturday, in the basement at Knox Presbyterian Church, beginning at 1 p.m. Cost is $5 per player.

The Port Elgin Lions Club Mega TV Bingo will run Saturday, from 5-10:30 p.m., with TV viewing at the Lions Hall. Multiple games – 16 in total; prizes totalling $5,450; last jackpot is $2,500. Tickets are $30 each. Contact Guy Martin at 519-368-7871, to purchase your tickets in advance.

Sunday begins with the worship service at 10 a.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, followed by a free chili luncheon at the church, at 11:30 a.m.

The fun continues Sunday afternoon, with a Family Fun Skating Party at the Tiverton Sports Centre, including skating from 12:30-2 p.m., face-painting by Lisa Leyes from Noon to 3 p.m., and free hot dogs and hot chocolate from 1-3 p.m.
