Purple Grove news

It feels so much like spring in the air, and we’ve been following the many kinds of returning birds to the area. Pretty sure the Tundra Swans are back; we heard their familiar call as they were passing through. So, keep your eyes open to spot them in the open fields. Hard to believe that we are only weeks away from the official opening of fishing season. Can hardly wait for that!

We send out our deepest sympathy to the family of Joan Roe, who passed away recently. We, in this area, all knew her one way or the other and she will be surely missed.

Birthday wishes go out to Dave Wray, Shirley Galloway, Sandy MacEwan, Shirley Harris, Joyce Osborne, Rebecca Farrell, Kyle Bridge, Carter Bridge and Crosby Devitt.

Congratulations to our area Junior and Senior hockey teams for some great hockey and entertainment and also to all our local curling teams. It is great to be able to attend and cheer them on.

If you enjoy theatre, we've had some terrific shows.

There have been two well-attended quilting bees held at St. Andrew’s United Church in Ripley, with many beautiful quilts finished off and, hopefully, another one to attend this month. Well done, ladies.

Congratulations to Emily Simpson and Tyler Rombouts who were married at Camp Kintail, March 2.

Bren de Leeuw and Cheryl Bridge attended the Women’s Institute District Director's meeting held Thursday, March 7, at the Chesley Fire Hall. What a beautiful day to drive through the area with lots of warm sunshine.
