​South Bruce OPP wins Battle of the Badges charity hockey game

The police officers locked up the firefighters and threw away the key, as they brought home the Brass Nozzle for the second year in a row, in the Battle of the Badges charity hockey game, Thursday afternoon, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

The South Bruce OPP took on Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services in the annual match, formerly called Guns and Hoses.

Staff-sergeant Deb McClure, new South Bruce OPP detachment manager, joined constables Kevin Martin and Matt Thorpe, in coaching the game-winning team.

Meanwhile, Kincardine station acting fire chief Matt Cottrill had his hands full coaching the firefighters, particularly unruly goalie Ron Simmons!

It was all in good fun and for a good cause, as the event raised $600 for Huron Shores Hospice, as well as a cruiser full of non-perishable items, and monetary donations for the Kincardine Food Bank.
