Beth Aitchison of Lucknow dies at the age of 83
Myrtle Elizabeth “Beth” Aitchison, beloved wife of the late Robert A. Aitchison, died at the Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels, Saturday April 27, 2024, at the age of 83.

Born in Oct. 30, 1940, in Kenilworth, she is the daughter of the late Adaleen (Rooney) and Kenneth Dowling.

Dear mother of Brad (Tracey) Aitchison of Lucknow and Barb (Todd) Struthers of Teeswater.

Greatly missed by her grandchildren, Riley, Lacey (Mike), Lindsay (Ray), Landon, Amy and Ally, and five great-grandchildren.
Also survived by her brother, Laverne (Marg) Dowling of Guelph; and several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by Mike Lewis.

Predeceased by her daughter, Bev Lewis; granddaughter, Laura Murray; and grandson, Nash Aitchison.

Beth was born in Kenilworth and raised in Rothsay. Her family then moved to Whitechurch where she met her husband, Bob. They were married in 1958 and lived on a dairy farm north of London until they purchased the family farm in St. Helens in 1966.

They farmed there until 1983 and continued to reside in St. Helens until 1993 when they moved to Lucknow. Beth continued to work at the Lucknow grocery store until her retirement, where she made lifelong friendships.

She would never turn down an opportunity to play a game of cards with friends or family. She spent much of her free time behind the knitting needles, creating her one-of-a-kind afghans for many in the community.

Beth and Bob spent their summers at Aintree Trailer Park, south of Kincardine, where the friends they met became family.

She courageously fought her illness until the end and will be greatly missed by her family. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Huronlea in Brussels for providing the utmost care to Beth during her time there.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at the funeral home, with visitation also one hour prior.

Interment, Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.

Donations to the Wingham Hospital Foundation or Alzheimer’s Society are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
