Library, Red Cross bring “Be Prepared” workshops to Bruce County

In collaboration with Bruce County Emergency Management and the Canadian Red Cross, the Bruce County Public Library has announced its participation in Emergency Preparedness Week, May 5-11.

As part of this collaboration, the library will host eight “Be Prepared” workshops throughout the county.

The workshops will be run by experienced Red Cross presenters who will share invaluable insights into best practices to prepare for any emergency, from natural disasters to unexpected events. Patrons will gain life-saving knowledge and skills to effectively manage an emergency.

One of the key highlights of the workshops will be a guide on assembling a 72-hour emergency kit. This resource helps equip individuals and families with the essentials to sustain themselves following a disaster.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Red Cross to provide patrons with the necessary tools and knowledge to stay safe during an emergency,” said program co-ordinator Nancy Kuhl. “By hosting these workshops in each of our service areas, we can help the community receive access to invaluable resources to help handle any emergency.”

The workshops will take place at eight library branches, making it convenient for patrons to participate. Dates, times, and locations for the workshops can be found on the library website’s On-line Calendar. 

The Kincardine Library workshop will be held Friday, May 10, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required; you can register by directly contacting the branch you would like to attend.
