Several new South Bruce OPP officers trained on bicycle patrol
(SOUTH BRUCE, ON) - Members of the South Bruce OPP will be out in the communities on bicycle patrol this summer, with several new officers having been trained on how to operate police bicycles.
One of the biggest advantaged to bicycle patrol is its ability to go where traditional patrol vehicles can't. Trail systems will be patrolled throughout the South Bruce detachment area.
"Our objective is to put officers in our communities engaging with the public on trails, beach-fronts and areas that see a large amount of foot and pedal traffic,” says staff-sergeant Deb McClure.
Community education and engagement is the summer focus for members of the South Bruce OPP.
