Heavy snowfall hits Kincardine area on the weekend
Heavy snowfall hit the Kincardine area on the weekend, making driving treacherous Saturday afternoon and evening.
The wet snow began to fall Saturday around noon and continued through the night, covering the roads with slick slush and making it tough for motorists.
By the same token, the snow clung to trees, bushes and hydro wires giving the area a "winter wonderland" look. It was also perfect snow for making snowmen and snow angels.
However, by Sunday morning, the wind had blown all the snow off the trees, and the sun shone, making the snow-covered fields sparkle. The roads were in better shape, much to the delight of drivers.
The snowy weather and colder temperatures are expected to continue through the week.
By contrast, this time last year (Nov. 18, 2014), Highway 21 was closed for the first time during that winter season.
